Sponsorship is one of the best ways to brand your organization as a thought leader and to highlight your commitment to advancing the philanthropic sector. As a sponsor, you will be able to:

  • Connect with industry decision makers. Seagriculture 2018 welcomed around 100 delegates from 18 countries, the Seagriculture conference is the sector’s place to be heard and seen.
  • Showcase your organization’s expertise at a world-class conference. The conference provides high-quality opportunities for attendees to learn, connect, and share with their peers.
  • Demonstrate your leadership. As we focus on the essential role that philanthropy plays in society, share with your colleagues the topics and work you care deeply about.

Check out all participants companies from last year in Galway.

Port of Oostende focuses on continuity, growth and employment based on 5 pillars: Blue Economy, Bulk & Project Cargo, Cruises & Ferries, Circular Industry and the Fishing Industry. These sectors will be further developed with two main principles in mind: prioritising safety, health and environment on the one hand and supporting innovation and development on the other hand.

Ostend is a modern cosmopolitan city with all the advantages of a seaside resort. It is a unique and modern city with a rich historical past, situated in the Flemish province of West-Flanders. Furthermore Ostend has its own harbor, a marina, an airport, many gastronomic restaurants, available industrial area and a big range of places to go shopping, … The city is easily accessible without traffic jams and the fact that everything is within walking distance is a very pleasant extra asset as well!

Ostend knows many opportunities for business combining the assets mentioned above and is well known for its unique conference rooms and inspiring 4 star hotels to host your future business event. Most famous venue is Kursaal of Ostend (with a capacity up to 2 000 pax) and dozens of hotels within a few 100 metres radius of this conference centre.

Ghent University is internationally renowned for its fundamental and applied research in marine and maritime sciences. Over 400 employees conduct marine / maritime research, representing 30% and 50% of all marine / maritime research in Belgium and Flanders respectively.

Furthermore, UGent is unique in the region, being the only knowledge institution with Blue Growth expertise, across 6 faculties (Bio-engineering, Sciences, Engineering & Architecture, Law, Veterinary Medicine, and Medicine & Health Sciences).

UGent wants to expand its research activities at the Ostend Campus within marine / maritime sciences and related to Blue Growth themes in general. As part of  the Ostend Science Park, UGent establishes a new research group consisting of 15 experts and laboratory facilities within the teams of ‘building with nature’ and ‘oceans and health’. These facilities are available to the Blue Industry. In addition, UGent is a partner in larger research facility projects, such as the Flanders Maritime Laboratory and the blue accelerator.

The West Flanders Development Agency (POM West-Vlaanderen) implements the social-economic policy of the province of West Flanders. POM West-Vlaanderen initiates, coordinates and realizes activities and projects focusing innovation, entrepreneurship, transport & logistics and labour market.

Our Mission: Create a paradigm shift in seaweed farming to unlock the potential of seaweeds as one of the most un-exploited global biomass resources.

Our Goal: Market two-dimensional seaweed farming technology and mechanization to increase yields and guarantee minimum levels of quality and supply to reduce overall supply chain costs.

AtSeaNova is a team of engineers who are developing offshore large-scale seaweed farms. We have experience in the Atlantic Ocean with the brown seaweed cultivation and with red seaweeds in South East Asia.

In the past few years, AtSeaNova has been successful in developing a complete integrated seaweed farm using innovative, unique patented 2D seaweed cultivation substrates, a flexible tubular structure, an innovative mooring system as well a prototype of seeding and harvesting machine allowing the mechanical exploitation of large-scale seaweed farm. Atsea has demonstrated with its test farms that large-scale seaweed cultivation is technically and economically feasible in EU and abroad.

Most of the  seaweed, or macroalgae, available in the European market is grown in Asia. But also in Europe there are possibilities to grow seaweed. The Wageningen University, specialized in food, did successful tests with growing seaweed in the Oosterschelde/Eastern Scheldt a former estuary in the province of Zeeland, the Netherlands and well known for it’s clean water and aquaculture projects (like oysters and mussels). Seaweed Harvest Holland is now licensed to grow seaweed in the Eastern Scheldt.

Seaweed Harvest Holland B.V. is a cooperation between Spennekot Group, (producer of Dutch seaweed products), and Your Well (wholesaler in products based on European seaweeds) and was founded in 2015. Since 2017 Seaweed Harvest Holland has been supported by the Zeeland Participation fund. Seaweed Harvest Holland’s aqua culture activities go well together with the long history of agriculture of the Netherlands, being one of the world’s largest exporters of agriculture products.

Seaweed Harvest Holland’s mission is to cultivate in an innovative and sustainable way all year long seaweed on different locations in the Eastern Scheldt and also to reproduce, process and trade the cultivated seaweed. The seaweed will be offered to health food and organic stores, fish and specialty shops, supermarkets, restaurants, feed and fertilizing manufacturers, processing industry and export. The ultimate goal: Everyone every day some seaweed!
