About the speaker: 

Maris Stulgis finished 5-year university level studies in the Kaliningrad State Technical University and has obtained a diploma in Water bioresources and aquaculture. Before joining the European Commission he worked for 10 years in Latvian national administration in environment protection and fisheries control policies development and implementation. As a Policy Officer in DG MARE, Maris dealt with fisheries control policy development and implementation (e.g. development of new control technologies, leading the group of EU inspectors monitoring EU rules implementation in the Baltic and North Sea countries), fisheries data management, worked with marine pollution, biodiversity, environmental policies files. As from 1/10/2020 Maris deals with the Blue Bioeconomy, Algae and Marine Aquaculture.
