The train station, which is located in the city centre, is within walking distance of the dike and the shopping streets. Direct trains to Brussels and Antwerp leave from here.

De Grote Post is approximately a 10-minute walk from Ostend railway station. Cross the bridge opposite the station, turn briefly to the right, and then immediately left towards the large church (Petrus & Paulus Church). Keep to the left of the church, continuing straight ahead until you reach the tram tracks. Turn right here. De Grote Post is located 150 meters further on, on your right.

By car

  • E40: The E40 motorway connects Brussels with Ostend. The journey from Brussels to Ostend by car or coach takes about one hour.

Ghent: 65 km / 45 minutes

Lille: 89 km / 50 minutes

Brussels: 120 km / 70 minutes

Upon entering Ostend via the E40/A10, first follow the direction towards the Centre (2nd exit at the roundabout). The Maria-Hendrikapark car park on the outskirts of the city is free. From there, it is about a 10 to 15-minute walk or you can take Centrumbus Line 1, which takes you to the Marie-Joséplein stop (De Grote Post is 75 meters away).

Many De Lijn city buses stop at Marie-Joséplein. The cultural centre is a short 100-meter walk away. From the Maria-Hendrikapark peripheral car park, Centrumbus Line 1 also runs to the Marie-Joséplein stop.

You can pay contactlessly at the white terminal on all De Lijn buses and trams. It’s easy and quick, and means you always have a valid ticket with you.

By plane

The International Airport Ostend-Bruges is just a short ride from the city centre by car and is currently in full expansion. The airport is used by charter flights and private jets alike.

You can reach the airport by bus, by taxi or car. Line 60 of De Lijn offers an excellent connection to and from our airport. The bus stop is right in front of the terminal, providing easy access to the airport.

Brussels Airport offers convenient rail connections to Ostend. The airport has its own railway station located directly beneath the terminal (level -1). Frequent trains depart throughout the day, typically requiring one transfer at Brussels-South (Bruxelles-Midi/Brussel-Zuid) or Brussels Central, before continuing to Ostend. The total journey takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours.

International and domestic train tickets can be booked via SNCB International (B-Europe).
