Lofoten Seaweed

Lofoten Seaweed was formed in 2016 by Tamara & Angelita under the guiding principle of reintroducing seaweed to the modern kitchen. Seaweed is a delicious, healthy, sustainable, and scalable food product, whose properties address several problems on an individual and global scale. Rich in umami, seaweed’s flavour profile provides a taste which is often lacking in vegan and vegetarian diets. Lofoten Seaweed aims to raise the demand for seaweed to a level that only responsible, regenerative aquaculture can meet. For the moment they harvest seaweed by hand from Nappstraumen, the fourth-strongest tidal current in the world. Their aim is to share their unique seaweed with the world, mainly in the form of seaweed spice blends and seaweed salts. Their organic-certified products are stocked in independent stores and major supermarkets across Norway, and they also have growing markets across Europe, the UK and US, Malaysia, and Japan. More and more people are beginning to understand, as they do, that the future of food lies in the ocean.

Tekslo Seafood

Tekslo Seafood is a company driven by entrepreneurs, who all have a dear relationship with the ocean. Over the years, they have evolved genuine interests in finding marker opportunities for seaweed products.
Together they have a dream of creating a new sustainable and environmentally friendly industry, based on seaweed. An industry built upon old traditions, which they have updated with modern knowledge and technology.
As of today they have launched two different brands with Sjøsaker and Sollmar which is in the categories of food and cosmetics.

The company is also involved in technology projects where the main focus is to find solutions for the bottle neck in scaling up the volumes of farmed seaweed. They are therefore building a mobile fertilizer factory which is self-sufficient with power from renewable energy from solar and wind. One of these small factories can process 8-10 tons of wet seaweed each day and is not dependent of the high quality harvesting period meaning that seaweed farmers have a larger window for when they need to harvest.
