Seagriculture EU 2026 Focuses on Resilience, Innovation and Real Impact

Seagriculture EU 2026, one of Europe’s leading conferences for the seaweed industry, successfully welcomed 229 participants from 28 countries to Gothenburg, Sweden, from 16–18 June 2026. Under the theme “The European seaweed industry in transition: survival, scale and real impact,” the event brought together seaweed producers, researchers, investors, policymakers, technology providers and innovators from across the global blue economy.

The conference explored how the European seaweed sector can move from promise to practice in a rapidly evolving market landscape shaped by climate challenges, changing regulations and increasing commercial expectations. Through keynote presentations, panel discussions, plenary sessions and networking activities, delegates discussed the opportunities and obstacles facing the industry as it seeks to scale sustainably and create measurable environmental and economic impact.

Seagriculture EU 2026 Reveals Full Program as Early Bird Deadline Nears

Seagriculture EU 2026, one of Europe’s leading conferences dedicated to the seaweed industry, will take place from 16 - 18 June 2026 in Gothenburg, Sweden. Bringing together stakeholders from across the value chain, the event is set to welcome more than 200 participants from over 30 countries for three days of knowledge exchange, networking, and industry advancement.

The 2026 edition promises a dynamic and forward-looking program built around the central theme “The European seaweed industry in transition: survival, scale and real impact.” A key highlight is the exclusive site visit to Nordic SeaFarm on 16 June, offering participants a unique behind-the-scenes look.

The 2026 edition promises a dynamic program, featuring an exclusive site visit to Nordic SeaFarm on 16 June 2026 - offering participants a behind-the-scenes look at one of Europe’s most innovative seaweed hatchery, cultivation and processing facilities.

Nordic SeaFarm is the official site visit sponsor of Seagriculture EU 2026.

The site visit will include a full-day experience:

• A boat tour to Nordic SeaFarm’s cultivation site in the scenic Grebbestad archipelago

• A visit to the company’s hatchery/processing facilities in Strömstad

• A stop at Tjärnö Marine Laboratory to get insights from the University of Gothenburg’s Department of Marine Sciences on their current seaweed research

Seagriculture EU 2025 Gathers Over 200 Global Seaweed Experts in Rotterdam: Today’s Scaling for Tomorrow’s Needs

Seagriculture EU 2025, one of the leading conferences for the seaweed industry, successfully brought together more than 200 participants from 26 countries in Rotterdam from 17–19 June. This year’s theme, “Seaweed 2.0: Today’s Scaling for Tomorrow’s Needs,” underscored the industry’s need to scale responsibly and collaboratively in response to growing global demand for sustainable solutions.

The event served as a platform to unite stakeholders across the seaweed value chain - including producers, policymakers, researchers, investors, and buyers - to foster synergies and build a resilient, scalable infrastructure for the future of the industry.

Seagriculture EU 2025 Heads to Rotterdam: Scaling the Seaweed Industry for a Sustainable Future

The Seagriculture EU 2025 conference, one of the leading conferences for the seaweed industry, is heading to Rotterdam, The Netherlands from 17 – 19 June 2025. Under the theme “Seaweed 2.0: Today’s Scaling for Tomorrow’s Needs”, this year’s conference will focus on scaling up and professionalizing the seaweed sector to meet the growing global demand for sustainable solutions. With an emphasis on collaboration across the value chain, Seagriculture EU 2025 will gather seaweed farmers, processors and distributors, buyers, equipment providers, researchers, investors, and policymakers, to drive synergy and build a resilient, future-proof seaweed industry.

Exclusive Site Visits – 17 June

The event opens on 17 June with two exclusive site visits. Participants can choose to visit either Hortimare in Heerhugowaard or the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ) in Yerseke. The site visits have limited capacity and spots are filling quickly, so early registration is encouraged. More information about the site visits can be found here.

● At Hortimare you will have the chance to see their culture collection, cultivation systems, learn about how they approach breeding, support farming operations, and several other aspects.

● NIOZ, the Department of Estuarine and Delta Systems, invites you to their facilities in Yerseke for a scientific meeting and a tour to experience their seaweed research facilities. This meeting will be co-organised by the NWO-KIC Aquatic Food production projects CircAqua, SeaSeeds and From Sea to Society.

EABA and DLG Benelux sign agreement to strengthen collaboration for the Seagriculture EU Conference

During the AlgaEurope 2024 conference, taking place in Athens from 10 - 13 December, the organizers; the European Algae Biomass Association (EABA) and DLG Benelux have signed an agreement to strengthen collaboration for the Seagriculture EU Conference, taking place annually in rotating locations in Europe.

Both companies have been successfully organizing the AlgaEurope Conference together since 2015, attracting some 425 delegates.

EABA aims at creating, developing and maintaining solidarity and links between its members and at defending their interests at European and international level. Its main target is to act as a catalyst for fostering synergies among scientists, industrialists and decision makers in order to promote the development of research, technology and industrial capacities in the field of Algae.

DLG Benelux has been organizing Seagriculture for over 14 years and each year the conference gathers top speakers, sharing their know-how within seaweed for feed, food, offshore cultivation, biorefinery of seaweed, and much more.

Successful Seagriculture EU 2024 Conference United the Global Seaweed Industry in the Faroe Islands

The Seagriculture EU 2024 conference, the premier event for the seaweed industry, was successfully held in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands, from 18 - 20 June 2024. Under the unifying theme "Bridging Continents," Seagriculture EU 2024 transcended geographical boundaries, bringing together 224 delegates from 25 countries around the globe. Representatives from more than 123 companies and institutions actively engaged in discussions, networking, and knowledge sharing, underscoring the global interest in seaweed farming and its diverse applications.

The Seagriculture EU 2024 conference, the leading conference for the seaweed industry, will be taking place in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands from 18 - 20 June 2024. Under the theme, Bridging Continents, Seagriculture EU 2024 transcends geographical boundaries to unite stakeholders from diverse corners of the world. Lively exchange of information among experts at conference "Seagriculture EU 2022" 

First face-to-face conference of the Seaweed industry in two years – 31 presentations on current topics - 137 delegates from 18 countries in Bremerhaven, Germany.

DLG BENELUX, a subsidiary of DLG International in the Netherlands, held the international conference "Seagriculture EU 2022" in presence again after two years, this time in Bremerhaven. The conference took place from June 29 to 30 and the program featured more than 30 speakers. The conference, which was held in Germany for the first time, brought together 137 experts from the seagriculture sector.
