About the speaker: 

Brian Tsuyoshi Takeda is a Japanese-Canadian entrepreneur and environmental innovator, serving as the Secretariat of International Affairs at the Japan Blue Economy Association, where he facilitates state-to-state international knowledge sharing based on Japan’s experience in developing high-integrity, high-value blue nature credits. Previously, Brian founded Urchinomics, an ecologically restorative aquaculture venture, as well as recently co-founded Restorae, a platform to develop ecologically restorative technologies and business models.  Further, Brian serves as Head of Reforestation at the Netherlands-based Kelp Forest Foundation, which promotes the role of kelp in addressing climate change and biodiversity loss.

Japan Blue Economy Association is the Japanese Ministry of Infrastructure, Land, Transport and Tourism-approved independent research cooperative responsible for the establishment and management of J-Blue Credits, the world´s first, state-backed blue nature credits.

Brian will be presenting a quick overview of the J-Blue Credits mechanism and highlight some key market design characteristics that help drive J-Blue Credit prices well over USD 460/t, or over 10x similar credits from other parts of the world.
