About the speaker: 

Franck is currently the managing director of Algaia, the main processor of fresh seaweed in Europe. Marine biologist and engineer in marine resource processing from the University of Caen, Normandie, France, Franck lead for 5 years as Research Engineer a seaweed compound research group in the biochemistry department of the National University of Ireland, Galway, focusing on seaweed extract applications on plant, animal and human health. Co-founder of 4 companies including OGT, Alganact; Seaneo and Algaia, Franck has spent already more than 20 years in the seaweed industry and algal product development, from research to industrial development.

Algaia SAS, owned by the group Josef Rettenmaier & Söhne, possesses know-how, data and experience relating to the development, manufacture and marketing of algal extracts, texturizing and active algal-based ingredients in the food, feed, cosmetic and medical device market as well as agricultural plant applications and biodegradable biofibers. Algaia provides also contracted services in the analysis, industrial extraction and market positioning of those algae, algal extracts and related active ingredients.
