About the speaker: 

Michael is a Partner of Planet Ocean Capital – an asset manager fully dedicated to the ocean.  With Systemiq, Planet Ocean Capital completed a White Paper in 2025 on financing for seaweed and bivalves in Europe and is planning to structure an EU debt fund for these sectors. Michael is a certified expert for Blue Invest focused on the seaweed sector and is now the Chairman of SeaForester Group Ltd. Michael has a long-standing interest in finance innovation in response to emerging sectors and instruments. He set up Impact Fund Management SA as the first Luxembourg AIFM for impact funds with experience in blended finance, debt and carbon funds. Over the last 30 years he has founded and managed VC, growth and clean energy funds. He is a registered Architect and studied in New Zealand, Australia, and New York City.
