Olly Hicks is a record setting ocean explorer and mariculture farmer. Known for the first solo Atlantic row from USA-UK, his company, algapelago, pioneers sustainable offshore mariculture practices to support ocean recovery.

Algapelago is a regenerative mariculture developer and operator. Currently operating a 120ha pilot farm in north Devon, UK. Commercial focus is on kelp for agriculture, shellfish production and natural capital development.

Algapelago are operating the Blue Forest Program, a 5 year research project exploring the potential of marine restoration derived in parallel from regenerative mariculture. With support from blue chip corporations we explore whether this could be a truly sustainable and circular method of producing marine ingredients and ecosystem services in parallel and at scale?
