Blue Harvest Technologies

Blue Harvest Technologies is a startup company with parents both in Aquaculture and Engineering. The company is a 50/50 venture, and was created to develop technology that would make the seaweed industry actually output industrial amounts of seaweed.

EABA

The general objective of the European Algae Biomass Association (EABA) is to promote mutual interchange and cooperation in the field of biomass production and use, including biofuel uses and all other utilisations. It aims at creating, developing, and maintaining solidarity and links between its Members and at defending their interests at the European and international levels. Its main target is to act as a catalyst for fostering synergies among scientists, industrialists, and decision-makers in order to promote the development of research, technology, and industrial capacities in the field of Algae.

Hortimare

Hortimare supports seaweed initiatives worldwide, providing expertise from conceptualisation to building and scaling. They specialize in seed supply, new species domestication, breeding programs, technical support, and ecosystem services—laying the foundation for their clients' and collaborators' success. Their mission is to build a thriving seaweed industry that benefits both the environment and society. Hortimare strives for a healthy, transparent supply chain where knowledge, skills, and rewards are shared, fostering collective success.

Kuraray Europe

Kuraray is a specialty chemical company founded in Japan in 1926. One of their core products PVA fiber branded “KURALONTM” is popularly used in seaweed farming field as the seeding ropes for more than 60 years. They are looking for the opportunities to contribute to the growth of European seaweed farming industry.

Murre Technologies

Murre Technologies has been supplying the EasyFarm system with which mussel seed cultivation is possible, for almost 20 years. Seaweed cultivation and processing is their next development. They are building a harvester that harvests the seaweed from the cultivation nets in the sea. Sowing seaweed is also part of the EasyFarm concept, which is why they supply the complete system for harvesting and sowing the seaweed. They have also developed a seaweed bubble washer to sort the sand and undersized waste such as crustaceans from the product during the washing process. The system is equipped with separation rollers for this, the washing water is continuously filtered through a separator drum. To reduce the iodine content, they use a blanching/cooling system.

Scottish Seaweed Industry Association (SSIA)

The Scottish Seaweed Industry Association (SSIA) is dedicated to promoting the growth and development of the seaweed and aquaculture sector, providing essential resources and services to their members and the wider industry. The SSIA provides a dedicated platform to help seaweed and aquaculture businesses network, share information, and gain access to the best resources the industry has to offer.

The SSIA is committed to growing and supporting the industry every step of the way, from access to funding, assistance with licensing, all the way through to signposting, they are here to support members with up-to-date information and a solid network to engage effectively with.

Varicon Aqua Solutions Ltd

Varicon Aqua is the manufacturer of the Phyco-™ range of photobioreactors and the Cell-Hi line of algal nutrients. They are based in the UK and their team has more than 30 years’ experience designing, constructing and deploying algal photobioreactors, high rate algal ponds and aquaculture production systems worldwide. All Varicon Aqua products are built to the highest specifications using high throughput precision manufacturing processes. They combine this manufacturing experience with strong supply chain relationships, giving a systems wide understanding of both the equipment and production processes. This unique experience gives them a competitive advantage during client engagement and project specification, allowing them to provide bespoke photobioreactor and cultivation systems for a wide range of applications.
